    Howdy,

    There was a troll who logged into my BBS this morning & posted some spam.. deleted his messages, but it looks like the message got out before I delete it. I've added his IP address to my IP address filter so that he won't be able to connect again.

    That's why I went back to validating people, so they can't logon and pull shit like that. :(

    Its this kinda stuff that bugs me, ie: the work we need to do because some dick connects to a BBS for the sole purpose of being disruptive, abusive or vulgar, or just to create useless spam.

    I've been toying with the idea (for a long time), of building an "inside internet", well more than toying, I'm playing with it. If you are curious you'll get the idea here: https://intus.top

    My idea is that this community of sysops can be online and connected, but not directly exposed to the shit that exists in the real world. While its not 100% guarantees to keep them out (well it could be with some extra effort), it would sure slow them down, and reduce the amount of work we need to do to keep them out.

    Keen to here other ideas or thoughts on this.

    That sounds similar to things like the Dark Web, Tor network, etc..?

    Yeah probably.

    I dont know how the Dark Web is setup, never really looked into it, but Tor is a little different. While I guess both provide "inside networks", the difference is in the implementation.

    yygdrasil (which is what intus.top) is built on, is point-to-point encrypted connections, tunnelling an IP6 network - so your apps talk IP6 and the transport is yygdrasil point-to-point encrypted. Its actually very quick, so there is no noticable latency for connection or usage. I pretty much exclusively connect to my BBS over, and I forget I'm on an enrypted tunnel.

    Whereas I think tor is multi-hop, so no system knows where a packet comes from. That by definition means you are dependant on somebody else (or more) for a connection to be established, and finally your packet to get to its destination. While I havent used tor extensively, I have tried to browse or connect to some services over it, and it was slow... :(
