All the answers have already answered almost everything

however to have good bowel movements:

    - be well hydrated throughout the day
    - drink around two gasses of water after waking up
    - dont eat too much of processed food like pizza burgers noodles those which contain
    maida

    - try keeping your dinner light and lunch and breakfast heavy
    - try to cut down spices in food
    - if you are a nonveg keep it simple. spicy gravy can alter bowel habits and may cause
    irritation and burning

    - try fasting. at least one day every week
    - eat lots of fibers like onion cucumber fruits like watermelon etc
    - some people try aloe vera juice 1 tsp in the night and it may be beneficial.
    - Indian toilets are naturally better due to squatting position
    - if u are using a western one keep a footstool so that your knees are at a higher level
    - than your pelvis while sitting
    - keep your bowel routine very strict so that u wake up by your natural alarm stop smoking or reduce it by 50%
    - don't go on alcohol binges

however these steps may take a bit of time and habit forming but they work wonders˙

these are some of the natural or physiological remedies

some medicines to help facilitate bowel movements

    - laxatives like bisacodyl
    - sometimes constipation may be due to worm infestations in which case take a single
dose of albendazole+ivermectin in the night
    - if u are chronically(for 2 to 3 years)constipated and extreme of age like >50 then a
more dreaded pathology may be there i advice to go for gastrointestinal workup like
    endoscopies proctoscopy etc.
    - if u are suffering from irritable bowel syndrome then rifaximin 200mg 2 times for 3
    days may help
